Basic info
There are various types of games that are played with dominoes. The version most commonly played on Yahoo! Games, and explained in these rules, is usually referred to as Five-Up, Muggins, or All Fives. This version is a two-player or four-player tile game where players place bones (dominoes) with matching ends in a cross-like pattern. The object is to form chains of dominoes.
The player scores points when the ends add up to some multiple of five (5, 10, 15, 20, etc.). Once a player or team reaches a total of 50, 100, 250, or 500, depending on the total set by the host of the table, that player wins the game.
Yahoo! Games also offers two variants of the standard Five-Up game. These include Best of Ten Hands and No Spinner. These change the gameplay and scoring slightly.
Variants
Non Five-Up Game
If the host of a table unselects the "Fives Up" option, playing multiples of five during a hand will not result in a score. As in a normal game, the points scored are awarded at the end of each hand. Games can be played to 50, 100, 250, or 500 points.
Best of Ten Hands
When a host of a table selects "Best of Ten Hands," users do not get any points during the hand and making multiples of five is not counted. Points are instead awarded at the end of each hand. The winning user or team gets points equal to the number of pips the opponent(s) have. In order to play Best of Ten Hands you have to unselect the "Fives Up" option when creating a table.
No Spinner
Unselecting this option will simply remove the spinner from the game.

Gameplay
If you are playing with a Double Six set, each player starts with seven bones. If you are using a Double Nine set, each player starts with nine bones. All the remaining bones not dealt out before the hand form what is called the Boneyard. A player can draw from the Boneyard if the player does not have any bones in their hand that they can play.
First Play
When you start a game of Dominoes, the player with the highest double starts by playing that bone. Each player then takes turns placing bones on the table. Players score when the total of the ends of the chain is divisible by five. The sum of the ends is called the "Board Count" and is shown below the board. If you place a bone that sets the Board Count to a multiple of five, you score that many points. The game can be played to 100, 250, or 500 points and consists of several rounds.
The player that places the last bone starts the next round and can play any bone. If the round ends in a stalemate, the player with the highest double starts the next round.
